I work with many women who have spent a lifetime working diligently to build their businesses or careers in the midst of everything else that life has thrown at them. They’ve spent years, sometimes decades, caught up in the hustle and bustle of daily life. They’ve been on a perpetual treadmill of meetings, deadlines, and projects, constantly striving for that next promotion or milestone. While on paper their professional accomplishments are undoubtedly impressive, they each report a profound feeling as though something elemental is missing.
If you are new to meditation or my practice, I invite you to join our Facebook group, Playing Bigger Playing Beautiful and familiarise yourself with my philosophies and style. Once your join request is approved, you will be greeted with a meditation to get you started. Click here to access it.
To my mind, being about to connect with our spiritual selves, beyond the confines of our careers and lives, is essential for maintaining balance and fulfilment in our lives. But this can be easier said than done. How can we cultivate our spirituality amidst the hustle of our professional and personal lives?
At its most fundamental level, finding spiritual meaning requires us to connect with something greater than ourselves—whether that be a higher power, mother nature, or a sense of purpose that transcends our individual existence. It’s about tapping into the depths of our being and finding a sense of peace, fulfilment, and purpose that goes beyond the material success that our society so values.
One way to begin this journey, and one that I am deeply passionate about, is carving out time for introspection and self-reflection amidst our busy schedules. It is the fundamental philosophy of why my guided online meditation practices are hugely impactful. When we make space for meditation, journaling, or simply spending quiet moments in nature, we give ourselves the opportunity to tune into our innermost thoughts and feelings. It is in these quiet and deliberate moments of introspection and self-care that we can gain clarity on what truly matters to us on a deeper level.
Finding spiritual meaning can also come from cultivating a sense of gratitude for the blessings in our lives. In this fast-paced, often superficial modern world it’s easy to become fixated on what we lack or what we still need to achieve. Many women that I meet are constantly “shifting the goalposts” which prevents them from even acknowledging their achievements or how far they’ve come, instead focusing on the next great milestone. Simply by taking time to acknowledge and appreciate the abundance that surrounds us—whether it be loving relationships, good health, or moments of joy—we can shift our perspective and find greater contentment in the present moment.
The final piece in the puzzle when we embark on a journey to replace our discontentment with enlightenment is the aspect of community. Engaging in acts of compassion can be a powerful way to connect with our spiritual selves and it is what our Playing Bigger Playing Beautiful Community is all about. This generous community of heart centred women in business gives us all the opportunity to support and be supported. The act of providing support and compassion not only benefit those around us but also nourish our own souls. There is a profound sense of fulfilment that comes from contributing positively to the world and making a difference in the lives of others.
The pursuit of success is important but I believe that it is essential not to lose sight of our deeper spiritual needs amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life. By carving out time for introspection, cultivating gratitude, engaging in acts of community, and aligning our actions with our values and passions, we can find greater meaning and fulfilment beyond the confines of our professional and personal lives. Ultimately, true fulfilment comes from nurturing our spiritual selves and connecting with something greater than ourselves.
