In business, we talk a lot about the importance of setting clear, measurable goals and rightfully so. After all, when we know what we want, it becomes our roadmap—a guiding light illuminating the path toward our dreams. Knowing what we want is essential to establishing our goals. Tapping into this requires self-awareness, introspection, exploration and a deep understanding of our passions, values and aspirations. This type of self-enquiry work is a cornerstone of my practice. But sometimes we must go back a step and consider the notion of whether we believe we are able to, and deserve to, achieve those goals.
Do you believe you are worthy of the success you desire?
At first glance, these two concepts may seem interconnected, yet they carry distinct meanings that can profoundly influence our actions, decisions and, ultimately, our outcomes.

Knowing what we want enables us to define clear objectives, set measurable targets and formulate strategies to achieve them. Whether it’s increasing our turnover, expanding into new markets or levelling up our business in general, knowing what we want empowers us to steer our business toward success.
However, in my many years of working with heart centred women in business, I’ve come to understand that knowing what we want is only part of the equation. Believing we deserve what we seek underpins our motivation, resilience and perseverance. Put simply, knowing what we want is like the car that will get us there but our belief in ourselves is ultimately what’s in the driver’s seat.
Possessing the unwavering confidence that we are capable and deserving of achieving our goals gives us an inner voice that champions our worthiness, even in the face of doubt or setbacks.
What does your inner voice say to you?
What’s more, believing we deserve what we desire cultivates a mindset of abundance and self-worth. It instils the courage to pursue lofty aspirations, overcome obstacles, and embrace opportunities for growth. Those who believe they deserve happiness, success, and fulfilment are more likely to actively pursue their dreams, persist through adversity and create the life they envision.
Similarly, in business, believing in our worthiness presents as confidence, resilience, and a willingness to take calculated risks. Those of us who wholeheartedly believe we deserve success are unafraid to challenge, forge new pathways and seize opportunities with conviction. And it’s contagious! This unwavering belief not only influences our own actions but also inspires confidence in those around us.
For many of us, however, despite having a clear vision and tangible goals, our self-doubt or imposter syndrome becomes a whisper in our ear, hindering our progress and stifling our potential. Many people find themselves trapped in a cycle of indecision, procrastination or even self-sabotage, despite possessing the skills, resources and opportunities necessary for success.
This is where traditional business coaching models will fail us. In order to nurture a mindset of self-awareness, self-compassion and self-belief we must first have the courage to acknowledge our fears and insecurities. Only then can we begin to embrace our capabilities, repair our self-worth and transcend the imposter syndrome that prevents us from reaching our true potential. What awaits is a dynamic journey of self-discovery and empowerment.
Big Love,
